The Big Short is a film about how some finance outsiders made a fortune from the 2008 US economic crash by betting against the banks. Through an off-screen approach, promotional collateral was created for a series of celebratory screenings; highlighting the complexity of the storyline in a stark and anecdotal way.
By playfully intertwining the events of The Big Short with the iconic imagery of Monopoly, this fulfils the concept of both Wall Street being a game itself, and also the harsh consequences of irresponsible financiers playing to their advantage.
